Dedicated in 2002 to the first two head coaches of the program, the Larry and Dave Nelson wrestling room is the small gym on the campus of Vacaville High School. Larry Nelson coached the wrestling room from 1961 to 1993, and then passed the program onto his son Dave, a World Bronze Medalist in Greco Roman for the United States. Dave coached the team from 1994 until the time of his passing in 2000 after a battle with Lou Gerhig's disease.
Among other features, the wrestling room serves as a living reminder of wrestlers who have won championships for Vacaville High School. When a wrestler wins an individual league, section or Masters championship, their name is placed on a board honoring their achievement. Wrestlers who place at the California State Championships are remembered with a picture, forever reminding the current crop of wrestlers of the past success.
The wrestling room is located in the middle of the campus, west of the administration building. The room has a full 60 x 40 feet of mat space, two climbing ropes and storage for team equipment. Additionally, the team owns 2 full size Dollamur Mats.
